About
Andrea was born in former Czechoslovakia and has lived in London, Switzerland, Prague, New York, and now resides in Vienna. Each place has shaped her perspective, and her work draws on these experiences and the spaces between them.
According to her mom, Andrea has started drawing at age of 3, with her first exhibition at age of five. Today, she focuses on abstract painting and also enjoys creating photographic body of work. Color is central to her practice: guided by color psychology, she explores its effects on mood in order to convey meaning rather than just surface.
Her photography work explores part of quantum phincluding the Many Worlds theory, and themes of women’s empowerment. Influenced by Surrealism, Andrea aims to create images that give visible form to inner states and the experiences, inviting viewers to see the familiar from a different angle.
Andrea has exhibited in London and New York, and her work is held in private collections in Los Angeles and the United Kingdom amongst others. Her surreal photography was selected among Saatchi Art Gallery’s Top 10 on the theme of Illusion. Female empowerment Bra Bra Bra series has been published by the CICA Museum in South Korea and in Scandinavian ArtReveal magazine. She has also created a dedicated body of work with One Billion Rising, addressing violence against women through her art. Andrea has discussed her practice in an interview with the Happy Melon gallery, available as original in Slovak langauge.
